New Moon in Virgo - September 2023

Your guide to the moon cycle ahead.

New Moon in Virgo

This New Moon in Virgo is going to have a softer, slower feel to it but if you lean in and listen closely it's an opportunity to really hit the rest button and make the changes you know you've been meaning to make.

A Virgo New Moon is asking you to take a look at your day to day routines and habits as well as the general overview of your health. It wants you to really ask yourself if what you do on a regular basis is really serving you anymore? Where do you need to let go of habits, where do you need to get more organised and practical?

With this New Moon being ruled by Mercury, we can see themes of wanting to learn and develop our knowledge especially around the topics of our bodies, our health and our inner and outer wellbeing.

Virgo energy can direct us to more alternative and holistic ways of living. It might be time to pick up that book, take that course or book yourself in for the healings that have been calling out to you recently.

If you've been feeling a little stuck recently, this New Moon energy holds the potential of reset and refresh and can help you to begin to move through and forward whatever has been keeping you in place.

This New Moon will be happening in the same part of the zodiac that Mercury began it's retrograde motion 3 weeks ago. What topics have you been working through the last few weeks? This can give you a little indication of what reset might be waiting for you this moon cycle.

As Mercury is stationing direct on the same day as the New Moon, things may still feel a little slower as Mercury is the ruler of this New Moon and isn't moving so it may be a few days or even a couple of weeks as Mercury begins to gain speed and move forward again before you feel the energy pick up.

Another reason it might feel a little slower is that Saturn is sitting opposite Mercury and Saturn always wants us to slow down, do things the right way, add structure and take care of the small details.

This New Moon also benefits from supportive energy from Pluto and Uranus which are both sitting in Earth signs. It's calling you into your body, back to Earth. It wants you to get grounded, get practical and get organised.

Yoga Pose Focus for this New Moon

Virgo rules the abdomen and digestive system so we want our physical practice to target the internal stomach organs during this time of year.

One of my favourite poses for Virgo Season is a reclined twist (Supta Matsyendrasana) which helps us to stimulate the stomach and intestines by creating movement throughout the lower torso.

Rituals for the New Moon

For each New Moon I build an altar to honour the new beginning, a space where I can sit and be with my goals and dreams for the month ahead and get clarity on my intentions moving forward.

I also really love to use scent in all my rituals and this month I'll be using the deliciously soft and creamy Virgo Wax Melts on my altar as I relax into my space.

Virgo is all about perfection and details, so it's a nice idea to honour that energy by organising something. It could be a book shelf, a drawer or your accounts.

Lastly, Virgo is an Earth sign so getting out in nature is another nice way to tune into this New Moon.

Crystal for the New Moon in Virgo

I've chosen Carnelian for this New Moon for it's connection to the lower chakras and grounding energy.

It's often referred to as the personal power stone, so while we are navigating this New Moon energy as well as putting new habits and routines into place, this is a great companion for the journey ahead.

Journal Prompts for the Virgo New Moon

Your journaling prompts for this New Moon are all around getting clarity on your habits and routines.

1. What do I do on a regular basis that no longer feels like a good use of my time?

2. How do I currently feel about my physical health and wellbeing?

3. What habits have I been telling myself I will start, but haven't?

Oracle Card Message for this New Moon

Full Moon in Aries

New Moon in Virgo Oracle Card

Card Description - It's time to see if you've been a little bit too much 'me,me,me'. There's a tug of war going on between what you want and what someone else wants, but you'll have to wait a little while to see what's going to happen next. As you wait, ask yourself if you've been handling the situation as sensitively as you could have done. If you know deep down that you've been a little rash or harsh, gone too fast or over-stepped the mark, then accept that on some level you've created this situation yourself, which means you can create you way out of it too. When this card comes up, a peak is coming and it could be fiery!

I hope that you have a wonderful and magical Virgo New Moon!

Until the Full Moon
