New Moon in Sagittarius - December 2023

Your guide to the moon cycle ahead.

Sagittarius is the philospher and dream seeker of the Zodiac, it brings in thoughts of long distance travel, in depth learning and spiritual seekings. While the Moon is in Sagittarius these feelings are pulled to the front of our awareness and it's time to take notice.

Under this New Moon get clear on what freedom means to you, what needs to shift in order for you to reach that sense of freedom? Do you need to study or deepen your knowledge to reach your freedom goals?

It's also a time to search for meaning in life, are the things you're showing up for currently giving you meaning? Do you need to seek a sense of meaning that you had not considered previously?

Whatever this Moon is bringing up for you, remember to have fun, to find gratitude in the little things and to find time to laugh. After all, we are on the run up to Christmas now so tap into that Christmas cheer that is hanging around!

Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter, the planet of expansion. So this New Moon is all about creating that joy and expansion in our own lives, to grow the things we want more of in the coming twelve months and release anything we don't want to take into the New Year.

Yoga Pose Focus for this New Moon

Sagittarius rules the hips, thighs and sacrum so we want our physical practice to find build the strength and flexibility in the legs as well as the hips.

One of my favourite poses for Sagittatius Season is Warrior II or Virabhadrasana II. Sagittarius is associated with forward-looking energy, optimism, and a quest for knowledge. In Warrior II, your gaze is directed forward over the front arm, encouraging a focused and determined mindset. This aligns with Sagittarius' adventurous spirit, always looking toward new horizons.

Rituals for the New Moon

For each New Moon I build an altar to honour the new beginning, a space where I can sit and be with my goals and dreams for the month ahead and get clarity on my intentions moving forward.

I also really love to use scent in all my rituals and this month I'll be using the deep and alluring New Moon Wax Melts on my altar as I relax into my space.

Sagittarius is all about expansion so you may like to add something to your altar that represents the expansion and abundance you would like to see.

Lastly, Sagittarius is a Fire sign and fire needs to move and release energy, this might be a month where you get a little more active and get out into the world.

Crystal for the New Moon in Sagittarius

I've chosen Lepidolite for this New Moon for meditation and connecting with higher states of consciousness, making it a supportive crystal for those on a spiritual journey.

Sagittarius is associated with optimism, exploration, and a free-spirited nature. Lepidolite's calming energy can help balance the adventurous spirit of Sagittarius, promoting a sense of inner peace and calm during the new lunar cycle.

Oracle Card Message for this New Moon

Gibbous Moon

Card Description - The word gibbous means 'bulging'. What a descriptive word, right? And pulling this card at any time of the month suggests that the situation you're asking about is bulging and coming to a peak. But this isn't and 'ending' card with a neat 'yes' or 'no' answer. Rather, you're being reminded that some adjustments may yet be required before you get what you want, though you're certainly on the right track, which is hopefully reassuring for you. However, there is also a sense that the situation is a bit tense, so don't push too hard - one false move and the whole thing could blow! That's not meant to scare you; it's just to let you know there's a fuse attached to this situation, so be careful if you choose to light it.
